Filmmaker/activist Renee Tajima Peña and Year of the Dragon cast member, Dennis Dun, provided a spirited discussion on Hollywood’s interminable obsession with the tong wars trope. The “Tong Wars” event included screenings of Year of the Dragon (1984) and The Tong-Man (1919), with live music by silent film pianist Michael Mortilla. This program of the Hollywood Chinese: The First 100 Years film series was curated and moderated by Arthur Dong and presented at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. November 12, 2022.
