In 1932, Joseph Sunn Jue met Moon Kwan, a film director from China who was in America to distribute Chinese films. Their fateful meeting led to the formation of the Grandview Film Company in San Francisco Chinatown, and a long-time business and creative partnership.

For introductory notes on Moon Kwan, see pages 241-242 of Arthur Dong’s Hollywood Chinese: The Chinese in American Feature Films.

Kwan’s story is featured in Arthur Dong’s upcoming book, Grandview Film: Cinematic Crossings with Joseph Sunn Jue.
